Yeah, I know...kinda early but.........

We had our Halloween Party tonight. It was loads of fun. Everyone dressed up, and the costumes were awesome!

We had a cupcake decorating contest. Abby won! Check out her prize winning goodies. Get a load of some of the others too! We "bobbed" for apples....well, not really, but this is a more hygenic way of doing it, plus its pretty funny to watch too. Ruth won, with Alicia finishing second. Then we played charades, with scary movies being the theme. It was ... er...interesting to say the least. Beetle Juice, Nightmare before Christmas, and Bride of Frankenstien were some of the more memorable charades!! And of course, we had food! Veggies, chips, severed fingers (thanks Cathy and Vanessa), punch (thanks Alicia) and more cupcakes than we knew what to do with (thanks all!). Overall, a great time was had. Maybe we'll do it again next week!

And So it Continues.........

We continued where we left off last week and finished planning the camp. We decided our meals, and schedule.

We also planned our Halloween party, which will be next week....yes....next week. We realized that the guiders will be out of town on October 26 and so we cannot do our enrollement/Halloween party. So we decided to bump things up a bit. We will be doing the cupcake decorating contest again, we will be making Halloween snow globes, "bobbing" for apples (on a string), and just having fun!

We planned the rest of our meetings up until Christmas. Tentatively of course. One great idea the girls came up with is that someone different will bring a snack to each weeks meeting. Oh yes, they are well on their way to becoming full fleged guiders.

First Meeting of the Guiding Year.

Its gonna be a great year, I can tell. We have 4 new members! So with the 8 girls that are returning, that brings our total up to 12.

Tonight we planned for a camp that we will be having in November. We picked reality TV as our theme. We are going to 'spoof' several reality shows. We will be doing our version of 'Hell's Kitchen' - the girls will be given several stapel ingredients and will be challenged to come up with a dessert. We will be doing our version of 'Project Runway/Canada's Top Model'. The girls will be given a bed sheet, a sewing machine, some accessories and will have to design and sew a dress. Someone will then have to model it.

The girls broke up into smaller groups to do some more planning. We will be doing activities based upon the following realiy TV shows...'The Bachelor', 'Fear Factor', 'So You Think you Can Dance', and of course...'Canadian Idol'.

This camp is shaping up to be alot of fun!!!!

We also did a quilt square for the "Steve Irwin Quilt". Some people are putting a quilt together for Steve Irwin's kids and are calling for submissions of squares, so we all signed a square with fabric crayons, drew a Labrador flag and a trefoil. It looks pretty neat.

We also decided our enrollement would be October 26th and we would have a Halloween themed event.
